Free art exhibition which aims to give visitors a clearer picture of autism

The Artists of Autism Exhibition – which is now open at Fell House, on George Street, Wakefield – features work by artists from as far afield as Australia, America, Germany and Canada.

It has been organised by Wakefield-based Photographer Karen McGuire, who has autism, and her partner Craig Binns to highlight the support that autistic people and their families need.

Miss McGuire said: “The exhibition has a variety of artwork in different media. There are also some stand with information for families about where they can get support.”

Miss McGuire said the show is designed to show the positive side of autism and give people a better understanding of the condition.

The free exhibition is on until July 6.

It is open from 10am-5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; from 2pm to 6pm on Thursdays; from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and from 11am to 4pm on Sundays.
