POPARD’s Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorders【Vancouver/BC】

This 30 hour course has recently been revised to reflect current research and evidence-based practice in teaching students with ASD. Instruction includes pre-readings, practical hands-on training through instructor demonstration and coaching. In addition, course participants complete applied exercises in the key elements of teaching and supporting students with ASD.

Expectations: the course structure involves pre-readings and class discussions, in addition to ongoing opportunities for the participant to apply concepts through active participation. Dr. Kenneth Cole is a staff psychologist with POPARD as well as a School Psychologist with the Surrey School District. An enthusiastic educator, Dr. Cole brings a wide range of experience to this course.

Kenneth D. Cole, Ph.D., R.Psych.
Psychologist on staff at the Provincial Outreach Program for Autism and Related Disorders (POPARD). In addition, he is a School Psychologist in School District #36 (Surrey) and a Supervisor in the Adult Assessment Clinic at The University of British Columbia where he has previously served as Adjunct Faculty.

Although he is experienced as an educator in the public schools, Ken has also worked as “direct care staff” (actually living in group homes), as well as serving as the Director of Training, for a large non-profit organization that provided specialized group home placements and supported independent living arrangements in California and Nevada.

Dr. Kenneth Cole is a passionate educator who is eager to provide sensible as well as strategic support for all persons who have autism. Please consider joining him to learn to work with some of our most unique students, neighbours, friends and family members.
